The right understanding of individual differences is essential, especially in the healthcare sector, where the practitioner interacts with various people daily (Bondy, Peguero & Johnson, 2017)Journal: Multicultural Awareness Discussion.
Multicultural awareness does not only entail understanding people’s histories and beliefs but also appreciating their life’s experiences and cultures. This knowledge enhances cohesion within society while also improving the competence of professionals whose responsibilities involve continued interaction with people from different backgrounds (Gray, 2018). Multicultural Self-Assessment In addition to the multicultural self-assessment test, I also took two Harvard Implicit Bias self-assessment tests. These included: religion IAT and age IAT. For the Harvard Implicit Bias tests, the religion IAT outcomes revealed my preference for Christianity while the age IAT brought out my preference for the young. In summary, the multicultural self-assessment outcome indicates that I am comfortable interacting with a diverse category of people irrespective of age, gender, class, and sexual orientation.
